Richard David Briers was an English actor. His career encompassed television, stage, film and radio. He came to prominence as George Starling in 'Marriage Lines', and became a household name when he narrated 'Roobarb' and 'Noah and Nelly in SkylArk', and when he played Tom Good in 'The Good Life'. He also starred in 'Ever Decreasing Circles' and 'Monarch of the Glen'. Besides these productions, Briers performed Shakespearian roles. In 2007 Briers was diagnosed with emphysema. He died at his home in London from the effects of a cardiac arrest.
