| AdminHistory | Henry's Cat ran on the BBC between 1983 and 1985 for a total of 5 series, 51 episodes, created by Stan Hayward and Narrated, Directed and Produced by Bob Godfrey.
The series followed the antics of Henry's Cat, a laid back yellow coloured cat with a tendency to day dream and his troupe of friends. The most prominent being Chris Rabbit, a bouncy blue rabbit whose enthusiasm and energy was a contrast to the cat's laid back ways. Their arch enemy was Rum Baa Baa, the most evil sheep in the world. Their adventures were often foiled by Constable Bulldog and Farmer Giles.
The cat's face is made up of MIIOW with the M for the ears, the I for the two eyes, the O for the nose and the W for the mouth. Bob Godfrey Films opening logo for the series was a parody of the MGM lion roaring logo with Henry's Cat meowing.
The first two series comprised of 5 minute episodes using felt pens on white backgrounds. By series 3 episode lengths had extended to 15 minutes and moved from felt pen to cell based animation. Story lines and the overall look became more sophisticated as the series and the crew expanded.
