TitleCorrespondence regarding art morning Saturday classes and appointment of new art teacher and Mr Osmond’s retirement
DescriptionLetters regard W.H Osmond's retirement, highlighting that he should be allowed to continue classes until the end of July, but that an appointment of an art teacher would be advised, who is qualified as a designer and craftsman in view of the possibilities for the development of the industrial side of arts instruction. Letters then follow regarding the small number of attendance on the morning Saturday art class, with recommendations from the committee that the class should be closed. Letters follow from the Surrey Education Committee and the County Inspector Haig-Brown that while the saturday class has not been attended well as of late, that it was well patronised and that there should be continuance for a further year. There are comments that they understand that the students find the fees are prohibitive. Conclusions were that the art class should be continued for a further year, and the fees should be 7/6d per term and 17/6d for three terms, and 2/6d for students taking Life work. Regarding the appointment of an Art Teacher a Visiting Art Teacher/s is/are agreed to be appointed at Epsom and Sutton
