Description | The collection comprises of approximately 240,000 business and calling cards collected from across the world spanning the period of the 20th century, with some 19th century material mixed in. There are cards ranging from local contractors to world leaders, a Consular-General from Mongolia. The collection provides a representative set demonstrating the development of the business calling card as a medium of advertising over more than a century. It also enables international comparison of the medium. The collection is unique ephemera dating from the mid-nineteenth century. It is believed that there are opportunities for learning, teaching and research from a few perspectives โ including graphic design, typography, business studies.
