Activity | Alan Bennett is an English playwright, screenwriter, actor and author. He was born in Leeds and studied and later taught at Oxford University. He collaborated as writer and performer with Dudley Moore, Jonathan Miller and Peter Cook in the satirical revue Beyond the Fringe at the 1960 Edinburgh Festival. After this success he turned to writing full time. His work includes The Madness of King George III, Talking Heads and History Boys. He was the inspiration for the lead character in Bob Godfrey's 1995 animation And So To Bed. |
