AdminHistory | Michael Stevenson is an artist from New Zealand, born in 1964, based in Berlin since 2000, teaching professor at Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Nuremberg, Germany. Inspired by Scottish-Australian painter Ian Fairweather who sailed to Timor on a self-made raft in 1952, Stevenson built a similar raft for an exhibition in Sydney and also tried to sail on it from the coast in Kent to the island of Sheppey. In the Canterbury exhibition, he showed objects, photos and a film reflecting both Fairweather's original journey and his own re-enactment. |
